Phytopectol is one of the most commonly prescribed herbal mixes for coughing.

For better effect this mix combines several plants, known for their expectorant, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties.

Composition

  • Chamomile flowers 20%;
  • Rhododendron tomentosum (wild rosemary) shoots 20%;
  • Calendula flowers 20%;
  • Violet herb 20%;
  • Licorice roots 15%;
  • Peppermint leaves 5%.

A mixture of heterogeneous particles of plant material of brown-yellow color with green, white, yellow-orange and brown splashes. The smell is fragrant. The taste of the infusion is bitter-sweet, slightly minty and fresh.

Storage And Handling

Indications

Complex treatment of inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract, accompanied by non-productive coughing and viscous sputum (including bronchitis or tracheitis).

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to any component of the Phytopectol mix;
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding period (may be permitted after the consultation with a specialist);
  • Children under 3 years old.

Side effects

  • Possible allergic reactions.

Dosage and Brewing Instructions

Place 1 filter bag (2.0 g) in a glass or enamel bowl, pour 100 ml (1/2 cup) of boiling water over the bags, cover and let steep for 15 minutes, periodically pressing the bags with a spoon, then squeeze them out.

Drink the infusion before meals for 2-3 weeks: adults and children over 12 years old - 1/2 cup 4 times a day, children 6 to 12 years old - 2-3 tablespoons 4 times a day, children 3 to 5 years - 1-2 tablespoons 4 times a day.

If there are no side effects, you may use 2 filter bags (4.0 g), pour them over with 100 ml (1/2 cup) of boiling water and proceeding as stated above.

Then drink the infusion before meals for 2-3 weeks: adults and children over 12 years old - 1/2 cup 3 times a day, children from 6 to 12 years old - 2-3 tablespoons 3 times a day, children from 3 to 5 years old - 1-2 tablespoons 3 times a day.

Shake the infusion up beforehand.

Special instructions

This herbal mix should not be used simultaneously with antitussive drugs or with drugs that reduce the formation of sputum, as this makes coughing up the liquefied sputum more difficult.
